ABOUT

Daytona Higareda (aka “DJ”) is a Chicago based writer currently studying Film & Television at Columbia College Chicago.

DJ believes the power of visual storytelling lies in its accessibility, and she hopes to use that power to inspire people to follow their dreams and embark on a journey of personal growth.

DJ has been considered by herself and others as a writer for as long as she can remember. Like many young writers, words on paper is how she made sense of the world around her.

She has always had an affinity for stories- first through books, and then through television. What she loves most about stories is the characters that live in them.

Though they are works of fiction, DJ appreciates their representation of human existence, and especially their propensity for growth. On multiple occasions, she has found herself inspired to examine and challenge her own way of thinking as the characters she connects with do the same.

Just as she has found inspiration through incredible characters and their journeys, DJ seeks to provide audiences with that same experience.

With a special interest in human behavior and interpersonal relationships, DJ’s work often examines the intersection between the two. She likes to explore how family dynamics influence decisions and personality, while simultaneously encouraging an audience to break free from those cycles and patterns of thought.
